Noemi Bosques and Marisol Miranda Weigh in for their WIBA title fight Aug 22, 2015

The energy was buzzing on this humid Florida summer evening. (Noemi "La Rebelde" Bosques 9-3-2 2 ko) took on the very tough and ready (Marisol "The Warrior" Miranda 5-9-1 1 ko) The fight was scheduled for 8 rounds for the  vacant WIBA International title.  From the opening bell these two ladies made it clear they meant business trading shots at the center of the ring. Bosques landing the harder more pronounced blows and being the aggressor, and Miranda landing quick counter punches and baiting Bosques in.

Rounds 1-5:

I scored for Bosques as she was clearly pressing the pace and landing the more effective punches. Miranda was very game in these rounds and was counter punching very well but was not as effective as "La Rebelde" during their exchanges. Bosques landed several big overhand rights that seemed to trouble Miranda and on a few occasions she looked to have been hurt by one or two of them.

I thought Miranda settled down and started using her feet and effective movement to set up counters and was very effective against the aggressive attack of Bosques. She was very patient and waited for Noemi to throw punches and countered beautifully landing in combination to win the round. After the round you could hear her corner telling her she needs to continue with this strategy and to set traps so that she can use her counter punching ability to offset the attack of Bosques.

Round 7

I thought this was a very close round that could have been scored either way. The start of the round seeing Miranda controlling the action by neutralizing her opponent's attack with quick combinations and effective movement. Bosques trainer Tony Morgan was very animated screaming that his fighter "Get closer" and "Throw more than one punch." He also urged his fighter to watch her opponents feet. As the round progressed Noemi seemed to get stronger and started to heed her coach's instruction and landed some great body work followed up with hammering right hands to punctuate the round.

Round 8

I saw Noemi winning this round but it was another that could have gone either way. Sensing that the fight may be close both fighter's came out blazing. Each landing to the body and head at a surprising pace. Both looked as though they had it in them to fight on a few more rounds if necessary, and they closed the show with a bang! Miranda was effective once again early with quick combinations and Bosques with hard shots to the head and some body work that backed her opponent up. When the final bell rang both fighter's embraced one another in a show of class.

We go to the judges scorecards...

One judge scored this fight even a draw, overruled by the two other judges who had this fight scored 78-74 for the winner by Majority Decision and New WIBA Champion Noemi "La Rebelde" Bosques

Overall, I thought this fight was very entertaining and both fighter's showed up and performed like champions. Both fighter's showed a ton of class and warrior spirit during their battle. Noemi Bosques has improved immensely under the tutelage of World Class trainer Tony Morgan and she is only going to get better from here. Marisol Miranda was a total class act and had very surprising counter punching skills. I was very impressed with her as a fighter and as a person. I look forward to seeing both of these young ladies again.
