Montreal- WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis "Superman" Stevenson (29-1, 24 KOs) landed his patent left hand dropping and hurting Andrzej Fonfara (29-5, 17 KOs) bad in the first round of their rematch which took place at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Fonfara luckily escaped the round as Stevenson poured it on until the bell sounded to end round one.
The second round saw Stevenson jump on Fonfara landing a few more big left hands forcing trainer Virgil Hunter to step on the apron and throw in the towel ending the onslaught by the champion Adonis Stevenson at twenty-eight seconds of round two.
Adonis Stevenson improved his record to 29-1 with 24 knockouts with the win. In the post fight interview, Jim Grey asked the champion whether he would fight the mandatory challenger Eleider Alvarez (23-0, 11 KOs) who won a majority decision in the co-main event against Jean Pascal and was given a vague answer by Stevenson who seemed disinterested in the fight stating he will fight whomever his advisor Al Haymon puts him in with.
