Brandon Rios to return to ring on his birthday
April 15, 2017
UPDATE: Brandon Rios announced on his social media accounts that this bout has been postponed and a future date will be published soon.
After announcing his retirement following his knockout loss to Tim Bradley, Jr. in the fall of 2015, Brandon Rios has decided to end his short stint on the sidelines as he is scheduled to return on April 29, in Chihuahua, Mexico.
Rios' opponent has yet to be named as of this writing, however, it would be logical that the 30-year-old will be the draw in regards to the event. Victor Ortiz was heavily rumored to be standing across Rios in his return bout, but plans seemingly fell through and the Mexico-based fight came to fruition.
Ricky Funez, who heads the Ten Goose Boxing Gym in Van Nuys, California, has been training Rios for the better part of the last year. Funez, 39, will be making his debut as a lead trainer within the squared circle and will make every attempt to guide Rios back into winning form. The bout will take place at the Gimnasio Manuel Bernardo Aguirre and will mark Rios' 31st birthday.
