It’s been made official by Roc Nation Sports that the Miguel Cotto-James Kirkland fight that was set to take place on February 25th has been cancelled. The cancellation has occurred due to James Kirkland suffering an injury in his training camp.

There were some rumors that Kirkland may have suffered a cut during training camp. It was reported by Roc Nation that Kirkland suffered a fractured nose.

Not only was the Cotto-Kirkland fight canceled but the entire pay-per-view card as well. Fans will have to wait even longer to see the return of Miguel Cotto and Cuban sensation Guillermo Rigondeaux in action. Rigondeaux was set to take on Moises Flores on the card.

It’s possible that other opponents for Cotto and Rigondeaux are found to set up another card in the future. The Puerto Rican four-division champion has been out of the ring since November 2015 when he faced Canelo Alvarez in a losing effort.

With Cotto unable to secure a fight in 2016, it’s hard to tell when he will return and who he will return against.
