WBC world title holder, Danny Garcia, will be back in the ring on November 12 against Samuel Vargas of Columbia in a non-title bout, but the bigger news is a showdown with Keith Thurman is planned for the first half of next year.
Garcia, 28, hasn't fought since defeating Robert Guerrero and capturing the world title back in January in Los Angeles. Vargas (25-2-1, 13 KOs) last gained a unanimous decision against Juan Armando Garcia back in May of this year. However, the press release sent out by Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) indicates that Vargas is surely overlooked as Thurman is the one the company and Garcia are prepping for.
Thurman (27-0, 22 KOs) is coming off probably his most memorable victory against Shawn Porter in June of this year and specultaion began if Garcia would be the next opponent. Garcia (32-0, 18 KOs) should easily get passed Vargas and hopefully the boxing world does not have to wait too long for an official announcement of arguably the top two welterweights in the world today.
