Felix Verdejo stops Dos Santos in 2 rounds in Puerto Rico.
By Hector Franco
Friday night on TRUTV before a sold out crowd in San Juan, Puerto Rico Felix Verdejo made his comeback against Josenilson Dos Santos.
In the first round both men were tentative and didn’t throw many punches. The punches that Verdejo threw he made count as he landed some jabs and right hands over the top.
Verdejo in the second round unleashed his right hand after a jab landed on Dos Santos. The right hand froze Dos Santos and caused him to fall forward. Dos Santos was able to make the count, but was unable to continue. The referee stopped the bout at the 2:21 mark of the second round.
Now that Verdejo has officially returned and seems to have his hand issues behind him, what’s next for Verdejo is the question. Next year will prove to be a big year for Verdejo as he will finally step up his competition to contend for a world title. Clearly he has the fans of Puerto Rico behind him vehemently to the point that they draw comparisons to Puerto Rican great Felix Trinidad, who was in attendance.
The future is bright for Verdejo and the boxing world is anxious to see what's next for the rising Puerto Rican star.
