LOS ANGELES- It was announced earlier today that Golden Boy Promotions would be joining forces with the worldwide leader in sports, ESPN. The deal will allow Golden Boy to televise a series of fights throughout ESPN’s available networks including ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes. This is a huge development for the sport of boxing as ESPN with its Friday Night Fights series was a major staple for boxing fans for years. Now with its possible return, there could be more boxing for fans to enjoy on the sports network.

The deal will allow ESPN to televise 18 shows in 2017 and another 24 in 2018. Not only will there be fights televised but also a variety of different shows on various media outlets. The kind of shows that Golden Boy will offer to ESPN will allow for the possibility for the sport to grow and match other sports like football and basketball in content available.

Here are the shows that will be included.

-Golden Boy’s Classic Fight Library;

-In the Ring, half-hour interviews with a range of fighters;

-Mano-A-Mano, an original half-hour series featuring fighter training;

-The Ring TV Express, three-minute highlights of full fights; and

-Podcasts hosted by Oscar De La Hoya and other Golden Boy talent.

The upcoming schedule for ESPN has already been set with the first card kicking off on March 23rd at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California.
