Jessie Vargas (27-2, 10 KOs) takes on Aaron Herrera (33-7-1, 22 KOs) in a scheduled 10-round welterweight showdown on December 15th in a Friday night edition of Premier Boxing Champions Toe-To-Toe Tuesdays.

28 year old Jesse Vargas is returns from a 13 month hiatus following the loss of his welterweight title against Manny Paquiao in 2016. Vargas had snatched the title from Sadam Ali in March 2016. Vargas knocked Ali down within a vigorous and tense 9-round affair in a redemption bout following his only other recorded defeat against Timothy Bradley at the StubHub in Carson in June, 2015. The former protégé of Floyd Mayweather has a long list of victories against names such as Antonio DeMarco, Wale Omotoso. Aron Martinez and the notable win over Josesito Lopez in 2011. Vargas seems eager to impress in his return to the ring, and is clearly anticipating the fight:

"Every fighter is dangerous and if I give Herrera the chance, he'll knock my head off. But I come into every fight with bad intentions and I'm in a position where I know exactly what it takes to get where I want to go. I have a lot of opportunities ahead of me, but first, I have to show the fans that I'm back and look exciting while doing that. Herrera is going to give me his best, but I feel that I have the speed, the experience and the game plan to overcome anything he brings to the table."

Aaron Herrera, fresh of a TKO victory against Israel Toala in July, is keen to face Vargas in what will be his fifth fight in 2017. "I'm going against a really good fighter, but he doesn't punch very hard," said Herrera. "I will go bombs away from the first round. He can't hurt me. I'm confident I will win this fight. This is a great opportunity for me. I've got to start faster than I did against Brandon Rios and I can't take anything for granted. The fans will get a great fight and definitely be winners on fight night." The last outing for Herrera at the Pioneer Events Centre in Lancaster resulted in a knockout loss to Brandon Rios, and there certainly an indication of that experience playing in the mind of Herrera.

Diego Chaves (26-2-1, 22 KOs) squares off against Jamal James (21-1, 9 KOs) in a 10-round welterweight throwdown featuring as the co-main event. Ivan Redkach (20-3-1, 16 KOs) and John Molina Jr (29-7, 23 KOs) are engaged in a super lightweight match up over 10-rounds, and someone’s undefeated record hangs in the balance in the featherweight bout between prospects Stephen Fulton (11-0, 5 KOs) and Adam Lopez (8-0, 3 KOs) on the undercard. Televised overage starts at 10pm ET/7pm PT on FS1 and FOX Deportes. Tickets begin at $30 and can be purchased through www.uavpec.com.
