Official May date announced for Kell Brook vs Errol Spence
March 22, 2017
SHEFFIELD, ENGLAND - The IBF world title showdown between Kell Brook and Errol Spence Jr. will continue to fuel the conversation of who the best fighter in the welterweight division currently is.
An agreement was reported between both camps sometime ago, but left the public without an official fight date. However, as of this morning, the date has been announced as May 27, from Sheffield United's Bramall Lane. Brook (36-1, 25 KOs) went against the critics who believed he would drop his IBF title because of a potential move to the 154 pound division. But, this was not the case, as Brook made it clear he still holds the championship, and Spence (21-0, 18 KOs) would need to take it from him.
Spence, 27, is highly regarded as one of the best up and coming fighters in any division across the rankings. His last seven wins have come by way of knockout and he has been posting hashtags such as "StrapSeason" across his social media platforms. Nevertheless, Brook will make it extremely difficult for Spence to win the title -- especially fighting on Brook's home turf. This will be Brook's fourth defense of his IBF title, after securing it from Shawn Porter in 2014.
Tickets and pricing for the May 27 event should be announced shortly.
