Roy Jones Jr. stops Bobby Gunn in dominating fashion.
By Joseph Correa
Former pound for pound king Roy Jones Jr. (65-9, 47 KOs) made his return to the ring against bare-knuckle champion Bobby Gunn (21-7-1, 18 KOs) in a cruiserweight bout from the Chase Center, in Wilmington Delaware.
From the opening bell, Jones clearly quicker of the two, controlled the distance with his jab and landed several pot shots throughout the contest keeping Gunn off balance and with no answers for the former 4 division world champion.
Jones landed right hands almost at will against the defenseless Gunn and in round six Jones conjured up some of the vintage "RJ" moves.
Round seven saw Gunn getting beaten up and showing very little defense as Jones landed hard shots in combination leaving Gunn stunned as the round closed.
Gunn has had enough and his corner and called a halt to the bout prior to the beginning of the eighth round. Roy Jones jr. was declared the winner by TKO at seven seconds of round number eight.
