Tucson, AZ – Welterweights Jesus ‘Renuente’ Soto Karass and Juan Carlos ‘Merengue’ Abreu step into the ring for a 10 round main event on November 2 for Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN at Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Arizona. The fights will be aired live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes from 11pm ET/8pm PT and undercards fights being transmitted live by ESPN 3 beginning at 9.30pm ET/6.30PM PT.

Soto Karass returns to the ring following his clash with WBA Interim Super Lightweight champion Mauricio Herrera and is anticipating his upcoming fight against Abreu. He is hoping that a success can keep his name relevant in the welterweight division:

I have faced the best, I have beaten the best, and I am looking forward to adding Abreu to my list of victories. My goal is to get back in the mix of the welterweight title picture and a big win on November 2 will show the fans that I can beat anyone.

His extensive resume includes an impressive 12th round TKO over former WBC Welterweight Champ, Andre Berto. Soto Karass has brawled his way through difficult pairings with other welterweight champions and contenders alike. He has faced current unified champ Keith Thurman, two-division champion Marcos Maidana and has endured a pair of tough fights against Yoshihiro Kamegai.

Juan Carlos Abreu is also hungry to take home the win, coming off a loss in his last fight. Although Abreu has faced some stiff competition against the likes of former champion Humberto Soto and WBA Interim Super Lightweight Champion Pablo Cesar Cano, Soto Karass looks to be his toughest competition to date. If he can defeat Soto Karass on November 2, it will open the door for him to claw his way up the welterweight rankings. An opportunity he is not prepared to let Soto Karass take away from him:

Of my 19 victories, I have knocked out 18 opponents and Soto Karass is next. He hasn’t won in five fights, and there’s no way he’s getting back on the winning track against me.

Featuring as the co-main event is rising prospect, Ryan Garcia taking on Cesar Valenzuela for the Junior NABF Super Featherweight title. Garcia is coming off an impressive first round knockout win over Miguel Carrizoza at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in September this year.

Tickets for the show currently on sale and range from $45.00-$125.00 and are available for purchase online at casinodelsol.com.
