The Writing on the Wall: Boxing Leaves HBO

2018 marks the end of an era. On the weekend of December 8th of 2018, HBO gave its final boxing telecast featuring a tripleheader headlined by undisputed female welterweight champion Cecilia Braekus. Many fans did not attend the show, and it was a sad end to a franchise that has been at the forefront of the boxing world for the last 45 years.

Teofimo Lopez has Star Making Performance in New York City

Top lightweight Teofimo Lopez scored an explosive 44-second knockout over Mason Menard this past Saturday night at The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in a scheduled ten-round bout that was viewed by a massive audience on ESPN.


Lopez landed a crushing right hand that had Menard plummeting face-first on to the cnavas, in what was the opening televised bout on the Vasilly Lomachenko - Jose Pedraza lightweight unification card.

Lopez is now the NABA, NABF and USBA Lightweight champion.

Floyd Mayweather Makes his Return against Tenshin Nasukawa at RIZIN 14 on New Year's Eve

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is slated to bring his talents to Japan for the first time ever (as hinted at a few months back) to take on the incredible phenom known as “Teppen” Tenshin. Stay tuned for future news regarding the rules the bout will be contested under, as well as other match-ups for the card.

RIZIN 14 is scheduled for December 31, 2018, live from the famed Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

INTERVIEW: An Interview with Shawn Simpson, Chicago Bantamweight

Shawn Simpson is a Chicago bantamweight (8-0) who will be fighting on the undercard of the October 6, 2018, MatchroomUSA show at the Wintrust Arena, Chicago, Illinois.  The entire card will be available for viewing on the DAZN mobile app.  Shawn was a highly decorated amateur boxer, compiling an impressive 201-20 record, and was a 2012 Olympic alternate, a three-time junior national Golden Gloves champion, four-time National PAL champion, and two time U.S. Championship silver medalist.  Shawn was kind enough to sit down with Frontproof Media at the start of his training camp for his upcoming bout.  

Natex Boxing Aims To Put Chicago Boxing Back On The Map

Natex Boxing is Chicago’s newest boxing promotion, and Frontproof Media's Steven Weinberg recently sat down with its Natex Boxing CEO, Andrew Sobko, and VP of Marketing, Alex Cervantes, ahead of their April 14th event in Northlake, Illinois, a Chicago Suburb. This will be Natex’s third show in less than nine months.  Andrew and Alex were kind enough to answer my questions about being a new promotion, Chicago boxing, and Natex’s plans for the future.
