Deontay Wilder Defends His WBC Heavyweight Title in Highly-Anticipated Rematch Against Luis Ortiz

Boxing’s longest-reigning heavyweight world champion Deontay “The Bronze Bomber’’ Wilder will take on his most dangerous challenger to date when he defends his WBC title in a rematch against once-beaten Cuban slugger Luis “King Kong’’ Ortiz in the main event of the FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View Saturday, Nov. 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Deontay Wilder’s debut on Wall Street was as resounding as his performances in the ring.  The American champion with a 95 percent knockout ratio broke the gavel during Wednesday’s ceremony to signal the end of the trading session on the NYSE.  After a supportive cheer from traders on the floor, Wilder was assured that breaking the wooden gavel is considered a sign of good luck. 

Regis Prograis: Big-Time Boxing in New Orleans is Back

The Prograis homecoming will occur Saturday evening at the Lakefront Arena, where he will defend the WBC super lightweight diamond belt against fellow unbeaten Juan Jose Velasco. And, in the co-feature, Brooklyn-bred Teofimo Lopez (9-0, 7 KOs) will take on William Silva (25-1, 14 KOs) for the vacant WBC Continental Americas lightweight title.

Prograis vs. Velasco and Lopez vs. Silva will be televised live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes at 7 p.m. ET.
