Terence Crawford's next opponent could be this guy
By Joseph Correa
Top Rank promoter and CEO Bob Arum told Ringtv.com that negotiations were in progress between WBO super lightweight champion Terence "Bud" Crawford (28-0, 20 KOs) and Viktor Postol (28-0, 12 KOs) for a July 23rd showdown to take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Ca.
Update: Per Dan Rafael at Espn.com, Bob Arum has confirmed that the fight between Terence Crawford and Viktor Postol is almost finalized and that the fight will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV on July 23rd.
Both men are at the peak of their careers and coming off of impressive knockout wins, Crawford over the rough and rugged Hank Lundy, and Postol with a very impressive 10th round stoppage win over the always dangerous Lucas Matthysse.
It's very hard to imagine a fight at 140 better than this one and stylistically this makes for a very intriguing encounter between two of the very best in the sport.
If Top Rank's angle is truly to make Crawford their next PPV star this is certainly a good starting point and with a stacked undercard fans would likely support the idea and buy in with little hesitation. It will be interesting to see how negotiations proceed going forward and whether or not the fight can be finalized.
