Vasyl Lomachenko may have a new opponent for June 11

Talks between WBO super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko and former champion Nicholas Walters for a potential June 11 on HBO from Madison Square Garden, have come to a halt, much to the dismay of boxing fans. It was said that Walter's simply priced himself out of the fight and the two sides could not come to an agreement.
Per Top Rank Promoter and CEO Bob Arum, a fight between Lomachenko and WBO junior lightweight champion Roman "Rocky" Martinez (29-2-3, 17 KOS) is in the works and is close to being finalized. The bout would take place on the same date, same venue, and will remain on HBO.
Martinez is coming off of a split draw with the rugged and always dangerous Orlando Salido this past September in their rematch. The 33-year-old Martinez retained his title and will now look to defend against an Olympic gold medal winner in Lomachenko, who many consider one of the best in the sport.
It's important to note that Salido is the only blemish on Lomachenko's (5-1, 3 KO's) record. This occurred in 2014 via split decision in Lomachenko's second professional fight.
The co-main event will feature rising Puerto Rican star Felix Verdejo (20-0, 14 KOs) taking on Mexico's Jose Felix Jr. (33-1-1, 25KOs). This will be the biggest test for the young Verdejo and an impressive win will line him up for bigger fights in the near future.
