The World Boxing Council has Confirmed that Polish heavyweight Andrzej Wawrzyk has become the latest Deontay Wilder opponent to fail a drug test. Wawrzyk was set to face Wilder for the WBC Heavyweight title on February 25th in Birmingham, Alabama until VADA revealed their findings on Tuesday. The positive test for the steroid Stanazolol means the undefeated champion Wilder will now have new opponent for his scheduled February bout.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman announced: "WBC confirms that Andrzej Wawrzyk has tested positive anabolic steroid 'Stanozolol Metabolites'. The fight was contracted for out of competition surprise testing and this is how tragedies are prevented.

"There is no other way but Clean Boxing! Protect our boxers! Stand tall with VADA," he added.

Under the WBC rules, Wilder must face a top 15 opponent, leaving the likes of Gerald Washington, Jarrell Miller, Dillian Whyte, and David Price in the mix for his Championship Fight.
