SAN ANTONIO - World Boxing Association (WBA) cruiserweight champion Yunier "The KO Doctor" Dorticos (22-0, 21 KOs) left nothing to chance as he knocked out fellow power puncher Dmitry "The Russian Hammer" Kudryashov (21-2, 21 KOs) in two rounds.
The first round started off with both men trading big shots with very little feeling out. Dorticos used his speed and superior boxing skill to keep Kudryashov off balance and unable to mount a steady attack and as result won the round.
The second round started off much like the first, only this round saw Dorticos stepping up the punch output and pace which led to Kudryashov not being able to return fire, getting caught and hurt along the ropes. As the round was coming to a close, Dorticos shot a beautiful straight right hand that landed right on the button dropping Kudryashov and ending his night early.
Dorticos will now face the winner of Krzysztof Wlodarczyk and IBF cruiserweight champion Murat Gassiev in the semi-final round of the World Boxing Super Series.
