According to ESPN, Jon Jones ‘B’ sample has come back positive. A United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) spokesperson said Jon Jones ‘B’ sample from the July 28 test confirmed the presence of a banned substance. Turinabol, an anabolic steroid was what came out on the initial test just before his UFC 214 title fight with Daniel Cormier.
As mentioned before, it is rare when things like this happen that it turns out the flagged fighter will come out clean.
Jon Jones has been widely considered the best light-heavyweight in mixed martial arts. He’s never been in much trouble in his climb to reach that status in any fight, but his outer cage actions seem to be where most of his problems lie. The process between USADA and the California State Athletic Commission could not only wind up stripping Jones of the title and turning the bout to a “no-contest”, but it could also include a four-year suspension.
When Jones scored his victory over Cormier, he was humble in victory and complimented Cormier on being a model champion. A possible super-fight with Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic was on the table before all this happened. It’s sad news for the sport when someone as talented as Jon Jones keeps getting in situations like this.
