Bellator 166 The Bantamweight Shark Tank
By Edward Carbajal
If you look at card for Bellator 166 it's filled with former bantamweight champions and contenders that have been circling the title for a while now. Joe Warren faces Eduardo Dantas for the second time in the main event and L.C. Davis faces Marco Galvao in the first night of Bellator’s double header weekend.
Those two fights stand out the most because those four men have already fought each other in there run to capture and keep the title. Warren in particular has fought and defeated all three men at one point, although in their rematch Galvao submitted Warren to capture the title.
The first-time Dantas and Warren fought, Warren was the underdog because he was older and holds most of his wins by decision. Dantas is not much different with the exception that he holds more submission wins than Warren. Dantas was the man to beat the first time they fought and the self-proclaimed “baddest man on the planet” grinded out the young champion for a finish. Will he be able to do the same at Bellator 166? This fight is actually hard to call, Warren has lost some and won some since but fight fans should never count either man out of this one.
If you listened to our interview with Davis, you could hear the determination in his voice when asked about his future in Bellator. He said all the men on that card should be worried about him because now that he’s healthy, he knows he’s not far from the title. A win over former champion Marcos Galvao would make that a fact if he can avoid the submission game of the man that he lost to in his last fight, Joe Warren.
Bellator may be done with tournaments for now, but one division seems to be doing one all on their own. See the main card info below for Bellator 166 live and free on Spike TV at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.
