Bellator Bringing The Heat to MMA
The Undefeated WBC Women’s Super Bantamweight Champion, Heather “The Heat” Hardy (20-0 boxing, 0-0 MMA) is finally making her mixed martial arts (MMA) debut at Bellator MMA’s inaugural event in New York City, June 24 in Madison Square Garden. Hardy was originally set to make her debut in January at Invicta 21 but was not able to compete when her opponent withdrew due to injury.
No better way to break into a new sport than doing it one of the biggest events of the Summer and in a city she is well known. Hardy recently won her last boxing match on May 18 against Edina Kiss in Brooklyn. No rest for Hardy and she seems excited to be making her debut at Bellator 180.
Her opponent is Alice Yauger (4-5) made her Bellator debut at Bellator 171 where she lost to Jessica Middleton by decision. She holds one TKO win in her MMA record but trying to out-strike someone of Hardy’s boxing pedigree may not be a good idea. Usually, when someone from a striking background makes the transition to MMA their opponent attempts to take them down and grind them out or work a submission.
Things change when the rules change so we will see how the Queen of boxing in New York does on June 24 when she makes her highly anticipated move to MMA.
