Bouts added to Combate Americas: Empire Rising
By Edward Carbajal
Combate Americas is coming to New York to crown a bantamweight champion and is the first time the promotion will be in the Empire State at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, N.Y. on Friday, Oct. 14, live on beIN SPORTS En Español and UFC FIGHT PASS® to bring professional MMA to New York. John Castaneda (11-2) and Gustavo Lopez (6-1) will fight to become the first to wear a Combate Americas title and the card is still growing. Three bouts were added to accompany the main event and one bout is a women’s atomweight bout with a New Yorker making her debut.
Jenna Serio (3-1) of Brooklyn, New York enters “La Jaula” (the cage) for the first time under Combate Americas. She is coming off a two-fight win streak and is looking to test herself against Paulina Granados (3-2), who fought last May and won a split decision over Stephanie Alba. Granados fights out of Alliance MMA, home of current Bellator Champion Michael Chandler and light heavyweight contender, Phil Davis. Serio will certainly have her hands full with Grandados.
More bouts are to be added soon, see the current bout listing below:
Combate Americas: Empire Rising
Bantamweight Title Fight: John Castaneda vs. Gustavo Lopez
Featherweight co-main event: Erick Sanchez vs. Victor Martinez
