Combate Americas hosting open tryouts

Open tryouts for MMA in a new promotion with some serious steam in the industry, Combate Americas will be hosting its first ever open tryouts Saturday, August 13. While the promotion touts itself as being “the first U.S. Hispanic Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) sports franchise in history,” if you meet the requirements as an up and coming MMA fighter; this is your chance.
The tryout process will begin at 12 p.m. and will put candidates through a variety of drills testing speed, endurance and strength. Judging criteria will include basic boxing, kickboxing and grappling skills. If you think you have what it takes, you can register here or at Combate Americas.
On hand at the tryouts to help choose the talent will be UFC ranked number five bantamweight contender Juliana Peña. Along with her is UFC veteran Danny Castillo and Combate Americas Andrea Calle. Along with Peña will be Combate Americas referee Mike Beltran and Combate Americas Fight Director Mel Valenzuela, who will comprise the panel of judges for the tryout that will take place two days after the much-anticipated, 10-bout “Aspira A Mas Presents Combate Americas: Combate OCHO” event, live on UFC FIGHT PASS® from Exchange LA.
Priced from $40, tickets for the “Aspira A Mas Presents Combate Americas: Combate Ocho,” 10-bout event are on sale at ItsMySeat.com as well as at The Exchange box office.
