CSBC flips out over Justin Gaethje
Not long after Gaethje celebrated his win, when medical suspensions were passed out, one disciplinary one was handed to Justin Gaethje. The Colorado State Boxing Commission found Gaethje’s celebratory cage flips dangerous and had warned him not to do them. However, the thrill of finishing Brian Foster in the first round it seems the lightweight champ could not help himself and did it again.
MMAJunkie had spoken with CSBC Director Josef Mason and said the suspension was overturned after one day but, “understands if he does it again what the ramifications will be.” Mason cited safety for Gaethje and the others in the cage after the fight as reason for taking action that may have seemed severe.
It is better to be safe than sorry, not long ago Darrion Caldwell did a similar flip at a Bellator MMA event and landed on a camera person. Mason's concerns are not without reason as that was not that long ago.
Everything seems alright now and Gaethje’s suspension that was labeled as “indefinite” when issued, only lasted one day. “I want to thank the commission for handling this matter swiftly and fairly,” World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo said. “We’re all happy to put this matter behind us and look toward our next event, WSOF30 on April 2 in Las Vegas.”
