Bellator officials have confirmed that reigning Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima has signed a new deal with the company.

The fighter, affectionately known as the 'Phenom' enters a six-fight, two-year deal with Bellator and is expected to defend his welterweight crown against former King of The Cage champion and UFC contender, Rory MacDonald. MacDonald is coming off an impressive win over Paul Daley via rear naked choke at Bellator 179.

The Brazilian Lima is 11-2 in the Bellator cage and is currently riding a three-fight win streak. He last defended his belt in June when he defeated Lorenz Larkin via unanimous decision at Bellator NYC.

Lima had this to say in regards to staying with Bellator:

“Bellator is my home, I am excited to continue growing alongside the company,”

He originally signed with Bellator in 2011 and has been one of the most impressive fighters within the promotion.
