Featherweights to keep an eye on at PFL 1
The Professional Fighter’s League (PFL) begins their first season tournament event on Thursday, June 7 in New York City with PFL 1. The Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden will host a 12 bout card with some interesting match-ups. The thing about a tournament is that the wins are what make the future fights, not rankings or call-outs. So if a chance for redemption can come from a tournament match-up it has the makings of what makes the sport of mixed martial arts so popular.
The main and co-main event has two competitors that are not facing each other but certainly have some history. Before the rebranding, both Lance Palmer and Andre Harrison fought for the WSOF featherweight title where Palmer lost a decision to Harrison, breaking his hand in the process. The promotion went through the rebranding process and while everyone has reset to fight to win their respective weight class prize money in the tournament, the possibility of these two facing each other makes for great television.
Former Bellator MMA bantamweight champion Marcos Galvao is also set to compete in the featherweight class for this tournament so if he advances, there are some pretty entertaining and competitive fights to look forward to this season. Please see the full PFL 1 card below:
