Fresh start for Melvin Manhoef at Bellator 155
By Edward Carbajal
Bellator MMA returns this Friday with a title bout between Rafael Carvalho (12-1) and Melvin Manhoef (30-12-1) for the main event of Bellator 155. Manhoef recently fought in Bellator kickboxing and his last fight in the cage had him knock out Hisaki Kato. Kato was the man that finished Joe Schilling who knocked Manhoef out at Bellator 131, causing doubt among fans in MMA. That win came after two straight losses in the Bellator cage, and even though one of the losses was turned over, Manhoef is still looking to erase that small losing streak.
During a media call Manhoef was asked about his standing in the eyes of fight fans and he feels this fight is a fresh start for him.
Winning a title would be proof of Manhoef’s dedication to combat sports and especially MMA. For him, the possibility of being a champion in Bellator could happen at Bellator 155. “I think this is like a new era or new beginning for me”, said Manhoef, “and I could become a world champion.”
