Heavyweights added to Bellator 155
Bellator MMA announced the addition of a heavyweight bout to Bellator 155 yesterday. Dan “The Man” Charles (10-3) and Augusto Sakai (9-0) has been added to the main card of “Bellator 155: Carvalho vs. Manhoef” at the Century Link Arena in Boise, Idaho on May 20. The main card is shaping up nicely, and with the addition of Matt Mitrione to their heavyweight division, expect to see the bigger men from their roster fight more often.
Charles, the 30-year-old Phoenix native, last fought in 2015 when he knocked out Chase Gormley at Bellator 143 in September. His opponent is looking to come back from an injury that had him removed from Bellator 150. Sakai, a Brazilian heavyweight is looking to keep his undefeated record this year and is sure to have his chin tested against Charles.
The main event has Rafael Carvalho (12-1) defending his belt against the explosive power of Melvin “No Mercy” Manhoef (30-12-1). In addition, former Bellator MMA Featherweight titlist Pat Curran (21-7) will return to action for the first time since June, when he faces the always dangerous; Georgi Karakhanyan (24-5-1) in the card’s co-main event.
So far the card is as follows:
Updated “Bellator 155: Carvalho vs. Manhoef” Fight Card
Rafael Carvalho (12-1) vs. Melvin Manhoef (30-12-1)
Pat Curran (21-7) vs. Georgi Karakhanyan (24-5-1)
Dan Charles (10-3) vs. Augusto Sakai (9-0)
