The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency announced today that Jon Jones will receive the maximum of one-year suspension for the findings that pulled him from UFC 200 last July. Arguably one of the best light-heavyweights in recent MMA history seems to have trouble outside the cage that keeps him from competition. He fought Ovince St. Preux in April at UFC 197 to earn the interim title and fight Daniel Cormier to see who the undisputed champ is, he still holds a win over current champion Daniel Cormier.

It seems to be common saying with Jones since his list of troubles grows, “Jon Jones is the only one that can beat Jon Jones.” Back in July of 2015 when MMA was still banned in New York one of the ideas for future cards Dana White and the UFC were playing with was a “King of New York” bout between Jones and Chris Weidman. White was asked about that at the UFC 205 press conference recently and said it is not likely given Jones troubles. It seems like a year down the road is too far away for wishful thinking on that fight to happen.

The UFC released the following statement on Jon Jones:

UFC is aware of the one-year sanction levied against Jon Jones as a result of his UFC Anti-Doping Policy violation, decided by a three-person arbitration panel held on Monday, October 31, 2016. UFC has been advised that the one-year suspension commenced on Wednesday, July 6, 2016. While the decision indicates no evidence of Jones’ intentional use of banned substances, it does highlight the care and diligence that is required by athletes competing in the UFC to ensure that no prohibited substances enter their system.
