Lightweight title on the line at WSOF 29
By Ed Carbajal
MMA’s World Series of Fighting (WSOF) is putting their most exciting champion on display again at WSOF 29. Undefeated lightweight champion Justin Gaethje (15-0) faces lightweight tournament winner Brian Foster (25-9), live from the Bank of Colorado Arena on the campus of the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo.
Gaethje has been on a tear since coming to WSOF in 2013 having only two decision wins to his credit and the rest coming by KO/TKO. The 27 year old fighter is still in his prime and his aggressive style makes for many of the highlight reels for the promotion and arguably their most exciting main events to date. His opponent is likely not feeling the pressure he felt when he fought for his shot at Gaethje.
In an eight-man tournament arranged to find an opponent for Gaethje, Foster was out in the opening round. However, an injured competitor would have him come back as an alternate and win the tournament. If anything could be harder than that night, WSOF 29 could be the night to top it. The 31-year-old striker is likely to stand and trade with Gaethje to test his power, which would be the smart move for Foster as most of his losses have come by submission.
WSOF 29 is likely to end with a slugfest between these two hungry fighters. See the full card info below:
