Matt Mitrione debuts at Bellator: Dynamite 2
By Edward Carbajal
With all the NFL Draft news, now would be a good time to let fans know former pro-football player and recent free agent from the UFC, Matt Mitrione (9-5) is making his debut at Bellator: Dynamite 2. The bout joins a main card that features a catchweight main event between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (36-11) and Satoshi Ishii (14-5-1) in Jackson’s first fight for the Scott Coker-led promotion since 2014. Mitrione has already served as color commentator on Bellator’s recent kickboxing broadcast after Bellator 153 and is looking to get back to fighting.
Mitrione holds wins over Gabriel Gonzaga, Kevin Ferguson and Shawn Jordon. When he last fought in the UFC he suffered two losses from Ben Rothwell and Travis Browne. In his last bout with Browne he suffered a very bad orbital bone break that came from the controversial loss but it looks like he is all healed up and ready to get back to action.
Mitrione will be facing Carl “Badwater” Seumanutafa (10-6) a former Strikeforce competitor who was victorious in his Bellator debut, when he finished Javy Ayala with a vicious second round TKO at Bellator 148. All but one of his wins has come by way of knockout, including five first-round finishes. These men have very similar records and chances are someone will get another KO/TKO win added to their record.
