Mike Goldberg & Mauro Ranallo debut at Bellator NYC
By Edward Carbajal
During a media conference call Bellator MMA President Scott Coker announced that veteran MMA announcers Mauro Ranallo and Mike Goldberg will be joining the broadcast team and make their debut at their Madison Square Garden event on June 24. Both men have a large fan-base from their history calling fights in mixed martial arts and as luck would have it, they are both available for the promotion's biggest event to date.
Mike Goldberg’s last show with the UFC was UFC 207 at the end of 2016. This will be his return to mixed martial arts and he will be in great company with Jimmy Smith whose technical analysis of what is going on in the cage should be complimented nicely. Fans of Pride Fighting Championships are more likely happier to hear about Mauro Ranallo calling an event that features Fedor Emelianenko and Wanderlei Silva.
Ranallo’s reactions to all things combat sports are always on the money. He has called MMA, boxing, and pro-wrestling so to say he is familiar with the arena culture and fans of combat sports is an understatement. Ranallo had hinted at some big news a while ago on social media and it would seem this is it.
While that may have been the biggest news out of media conference call, questions were answered about last weeks cancelled press conference and what could have motivated Silva not to show outside of not feeling well. Whatever his reason's, Chael Sonnen was not buying it. You can hear the entire media call here:
