Ray Cooper III Looking Ahead After Win Over Shields

7/9/2018

While Joao Zeferino (22-9) leads the welterweight standings in the current season for the Professional Fighters League (PFL), Ray Cooper III (14-4) picked up a very meaningful win at PFL 3 in Washington D.C. last week. Cooper spoke to media after the fight about the win over Shields and his training in general for the rest of the season.

Not surprisingly, a lot of his camp consists of family. He said his brother and his father have been his best training partners and having had his father fight Shields twice; his father prepped him well to get the win over Shields.

“It’s just the first round of the tournament and it’s over,” Cooper said of his win over Shields and he does not write off the possibility of seeing him again given the format of the PFL. Cooper is slated to be on the PFL 6 card in August in Atlantic City, New Jersey later this summer.

The next event, PFL 4 brings the promotion back to New York in Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum. Visit the PFL’s official website for ticket information.
