The opening round will have King of the Cage Atom weight champion Andy Nguyen (5-3) facing Rena Kubota (4-0). For fans unfamiliar with the promotions Grand Prix events, they are a tournament format meant to crown a champion over a series of events and have been a staple in Japanese mixed martial arts for quite some time.

Bellator fans might remember Muhammad “King Mo” Lawal won the first ever tournament back in 2015 when the finals took place at the end of the year. The prize for winning this year’s tournament is 10 thousand Japanese yen.

We are very excited to be able to hold the first ever woman’s GP, and we believe that with having the total amount of 10 million Japanese yen prize money, this is the biggest women’s tournament in the world.
