Shane Carwin Wants to Fight
By Edward Carbajal
Shane Carwin (12-2) expressed interest in returning to mixed martial arts competition a few months ago. It seems he will be fighting in Rizin Fighting Federation and his opponent could be Fedor Emelianenko (36-4) according to Carwin’s Twitter feed, although he said “nothing is signed”.
I did accept a fight with Fedor. He likely won't fight again. I meet with Rizin and they have a great offer but NOTHING is signed.— Shane Carwin (@ShaneCarwin) October 24, 2016
However, not leaving any speculation or suspense the former UFC heavyweight contender let fans know he's the only one ready to go. If Carwin were to fight Emelianenko it would be his first fight since walking away from the sport in 2013. Emelianenko made his return at Rizin FF inaugural event on New Year’s Eve of 2015 and has fought twice in the past year if you count that night.
This fight could be big in Japan but is this something that interests fans in the US? Emelianenko’s last outing was somewhat disappointing and controversial when he won a decision against Fabio Maldonado at EFN 50. There were points in the bout where many believe a stoppage was warranted in Maldonado’s favor and didn't happen.
What do you say fight fans? Does this fight interest you?
