Tonya Evinger to face Cris Cyborg at UFC 214
What is becoming known to Frontproof Media as the “UFC 208 curse”, the women's featherweight division gets another hiccup. Megan Anderson has had to pull out of her title fight with Cris “Cyborg ” Justino. Both women held the Invicta FC featherweight title and let it go for a chance to hold UFC gold.
While Justino’s journey is well documented, Anderson has only just won the title at Invicta FC and could not pass up the chance to win the UFC’S seemingly cursed featherweight title.
The inaugural title was won by Germaine De Randamie at UFC 208 last February and did not seem to want to face the one fighter who has worked hardest for it in Justino. The UFC stripped De Randamie the title to have Justino and Anderson answer the women's featherweight problem but unfortunately, Anderson will not be able to oblige the promotion or Justino. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto broke the news Tuesday night that Anderson will not be able to compete.
Whatever her issue is let's hope it is nothing so serious that it keeps her from her goals in MMA. Meanwhile, Justino has a Tonya Evinger problem to worry about. Evinger is yet another Invicta FC champion who sports a 19-5 record and is on a ten fight win-streak, not counting her no contest from Invicta FC 20.
