UFC 200 has a new main event

Good Morning America broke the news today in New York City that Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones will be the new main event at UFC 200 in Las Vegas this July. No trash talking was done on the morning show but that was because they were due at a press conference down the street in the afternoon. It doesn't take much to sell a good fight, especially if the two athletes want to fight each other for the undisputed light-heavyweight title.
The press conference at Madison Square Garden was filled with rowdy fans, anxious to see the premier mixed martial arts promotion line up the main competitors of UFC 200. The fans have all the reason to be rowdy and excited for the sport that recently had the final ban on MMA lifted in the only state still banning the sport this past March.
Still, the shadow of Conor Mcgregor vs. Nate Diaz being pulled from the event loomed but once announcements were done and questions came out the trash talking began. Not unexpected considering the history between Jones and Cormier before and after their last fight.
All fighters had fans present at the press conference but New York sports fans always support their local heroes. Cormier had to deal with some roasting from Jones' fans during the Q and A session but handled himself just fine, he even commended a fan for setting up an insult in the form of a question.
Check out the highlights below from the press conference.
Questions about McGregor came up but Dana White only underlined what he had been saying since the press conference in Las Vegas, McGregor will not be fighting at UFC 200. Maybe 201, 202, or any event between 200 and 205 but that fight is off. After seeing how bad Jones and Cormier are looking to get at each other again, McGregor doesn't need to be there in July.
