Updated card for Bellator 158
By Edward Carbajal
With the sudden loss of Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson, who was to face James Thompson at Bellator 158 the promotion has released an updated card. The new main event will be Douglas Lima (26-6) against Paul Daley (38-13-2) and a co-main event featuring Michael “Venom” Page (10-0) against Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos (21-17). Bellator 158 will be broadcast free on SPIKE UK and Channel 5 in the United Kingdom, while in America the card will air free on SPIKE.
Daley was originally supposed to face Josh Koscheck but he was forced to withdraw due to injury. He will certainly have his hands full with Lima. Lima was originally scheduled to fight at Bellator 156 this month but will take the opportunity to fight overseas. Lima is a former 170 pound champion who lost a decision to a very tough Andrey Koreshkov and considering his preparation for 156 the match-up is a solid main event.
Page, Bellator’s favorite highlight reel fighter who last fought at Bellator 153 faces the veteran Santos in what could be a fight he may not be able to work his unorthodox striking in. Santos is coming off of a loss and seems anxious to fight again as this will be his third time in action since being on the same card with Page last April. Santos submitted local favorite Brennan Ward quickly that night and was close to winning at Bellator 154 in May before a mistake allowed Saad Awad the opportunity to win by TKO.
Exact broadcast details for the event will be revealed in the near future but this is the card as it stands now.
