During the broadcast of WSOF 32, World Series of Fighting (WSOF) CEO Carlos Silva announced that the promotion will be bringing their fights to Madison Square Garden on New Year’s Eve. New York has lifted the long ban on mixed martial arts this year, and with events at the professional level beginning this fall, WSOF is taking full advantage of the new territory for the sport.

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring our exciting, world championship live event series to The Big Apple, where fans have been anxiously waiting for years, for live, professional MMA action to be able to happen in their city. We have been working diligently with the staff at the New York State Athletic Commission as well as the executives at Madison Square Garden to complete all of the necessary steps to make this historic and great event happen on New Year’s Eve.

Fighters and match ups for the card are being worked on by WSOF President Ray Sefo and should be announced soon. New Years Eve falls on Saturday, December 31 and the event will be broadcast live on NBC.

The event will mark the second live World Series of Fighting broadcast on NBC, which has also been airing one hour, taped programs featuring a collection of the league’s top fights and highlights, twice annually since 2013.  To date, the league has aired 31 live events on NBCSN.
